This Privacy Policy applies to websites operated by Paradox, including but not limited to http://paradoxplaza.com, http://paradoxinteractive.com and https://forum.paradoxplaza.com, your use of our services, such as the Paradox Store, Paradox Forums and Paradox Accounts, and the use of our games or other products or applications (all of the foregoing are referenced to as “Services” for the purpose of this Privacy Policy). By accessing or using the Services, you consent to Paradox´s collection, processing, storage and sharing of your Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the websites or services of other companies or organizations to which we, or a third party, may provide links to from our Services.

We may amend this policy from time to time. The most current version of the policy will govern our use of your information and will always be available at www.paradoxplaza.com/legal. By continuing to access or use the Services, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy. Please review this Privacy Policy periodically.

 

Personal information

“Personal Information” is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, such as by way of example only, your name, email address, billing address and credit card number.

 

Collection of Personal Information

By using our Services, you agree and acknowledge that Paradox collects and processes Personal Information from you when i) purchasing goods and services from our stores; ii) registering for a Service; iii) play our games or use other Services, in particular when participating in games online; iv) entering a competition or similar event; v) signing up for play- and beta tests or send us a game pitch; vi) when contacting our support services; vii) registering to receive newsletters or other commercial messages from us; viii) when visiting age-gated areas of our Services; or ix) any other exchange with Paradox that you initiate in relation to the use of our Services.

When registering a Paradox Account through our Services, you will be required to enter your email address and your date of birth. You also have the option to enter your name, country of residence, and address.

Making a purchase from us requires you to submit additional Personal Information, such as a valid credit card number or Paypal account information and shipping address.

When you use our Services, Paradox may collect your Steam ID, PSN ID, Xbox ID, Paradox Account ID or other identifiers such as IP address or MAC address which identify you, and we collect information about how you use our Services, for example which games you play, how often and for how long you play them, and other similar information.

When you link your Paradox Account with a Steam Account or such other account, we may collect Personal Information about you from such account, including about your library of games.

We may also receive Personal Information about you, such as your name, email address, and shipping and billing address, if you have made a purchase from one of our partners and you have agreed to let them share that information with us. We may also receive Personal Information about you when working with marketing partners or social media sites to match your Personal Information with information you have provided to such third party, in order to bring you more relevant advertising content.

For Services that uses the Unity Engine, such as Cities: Skylines, Unity (https://unity3d.com/) is our service provider. Unity may collect certain data in relation to your use of such Services as specified in Unity’s privacy policy available at https://unity3d.com/legal/privacy-policy.

 

Use of Personal Information

We, our subsidiaries, affiliates, and contractors upon instruction, may use Personal Information for the purpose i) providing you the Services, ii) to respond to inquiries or comments from you, iii) to verify the identity of users, iv) to maintain or administer your Paradox Account, including contacting you in order to update your Paradox Account details, v) to maintain the security and integrity of the Services, vi) to provide support to users, vii) to process transactions and to communicate with users regarding transactions made via the Services, viii) to administer and perform play- and beta tests which you have signed up for, ix) to improve and personalize the Services, including showing you targeted advertisement to you; x) to provide you with Service updates, xi) to create reports, analyses or similar services for use by Paradox for the purposes of research and/or business intelligence, for example to track potential problems, behaviour and/or trends with our Services, xii) to enforce our terms and conditions, such as our End User License Agreement, Terms of Use, and Rules of Conduct, and xiii) such other use as otherwise required according to law.

If you choose to, your Personal Information may be used to send you newsletters, promotional notices or other offers of Services which may be of interest to you. If you have agreed to receive promotional notices, we may use Personal Information described in this Privacy Policy to send you targeted advertising.

We will not use Personal Information for any purpose that is inconsistent with the purpose for which the data was originally collected.

 

Sharing Personal Information

Paradox does not rent or sell your Personal Information to any third party. Paradox only shares your Personal Information with third parties i) with your consent (including as may be set out in this Privacy Policy); ii) when service providers under contract help us provide services to you (but then only to the extent necessary for the purpose of those services); iii) when working with marketing partners or social media sites to match your Personal Information with information you have provided to such third party; or iv) when your Personal Information has been anonymized and aggregated.

Paradox may release Personal Information when required to do so by court order or otherwise according to law.

Your Personal Information may be transferred to the successor or assignee of Paradox in the event of a merger, reorganization, acquisition, bankruptcy, or other similar event.

 

Control and change of Personal Information

You may unsubscribe to newsletters by following the instructions in the newsletter you receive. Our newsletters contains mechanisms which allow you to opt-out from receiving further newsletters from us.

If you wish to review, change or correct your Personal Information, or would like your Personal Information removed from our records or otherwise deactivated, please contact us at www.paradoxplaza.com/support or support@paradoxplaza.com and write “Privacy Policy” in the subject line. Paradox may decline requests that are unreasonably repetitive or require disproportionate technical effort to resolve.

If you have created a Paradox Account, you can access and change some or all Personal Information you have shared with us by logging in to your Paradox account at https://accounts.paradoxplaza.com.

Some of our Services provide chats, forums or other means of messaging between users. We encourage you to be careful when sharing Personal Information with other users who may be unknown to you. Paradox is not responsible for such Personal Information which you make available to third parties.

Paradox will NEVER ask for your password to be sent separately or in clear text. Anyone doing so is probably trying to steal your stuff.

When you chose a forum name or other nickname for our Services, we ask that you do not use your own or another person´s real name, or a name protected by copyright or trademark.

 

Storage of Personal Information

Paradox will only store your Personal Information for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected. We may continue to process your Personal Information after we have ceased providing Services to you if such storage of your Personal Information is necessary to comply with legal obligations, or regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or to enforce agreement we may have with you, including this Privacy Policy and or Terms of Use, but no longer than five years from collection.

Your Personal Information may be transferred and stored outside of the European Union or the country of your residence. Your Personal Information may be processed in the United States and other countries which may not provide adequate level of protection for Personal Information in the meaning of Directive 95/46 of October 24th 1995.

 

Security        

Paradox maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to help guard Personal Information. If transactions are offered on the Services, transaction information is transmitted to and from the Service in encrypted form using industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connections to help protect such information from interception. Paradox restricts authorized access to your Personal Information to those persons who have a legitimate purpose to access it. Paradox also has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control (e.g., verification of a user’s identity through username and password). Please be aware, however, that any e-mail or other transmission you send through the Internet cannot be completely protected against unauthorized interception, and it is your sole responsibility to protect the secrecy of your password. Paradox or our employees will NEVER ask for your password to be sent separately or in clear text.

 

Children’s Privacy

Paradox does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age. Paradox strongly recommends parents or guardians to instruct their children to not disclose any Personal Information when online. Cookies and similar technology

Paradox uses cookies and pixel tags to collect information about visitors of the websites.
